Machines need cleaning and care after long use—especially food-grade equipment. Ice machines are essential for cold-drink businesses. How should they be cleaned? CHINENG explains in detail.

Commercial ice machine cleaning methods
1. Cabinet and liner
Before cleaning, remove ice from the bin and shut off power and water. Wipe the exterior and liner with clean water (a mild neutral detergent is optional), then dry with a soft cloth.
2. Condenser dusting
For best performance, clean dust from condenser fins every three months. Use a vacuum or soft brush after carefully pulling out the lower front grille. Do not use sharp metal tools that can damage fins.
3. Spray nozzles
Loosen each nozzle nut and clean the rotating blade so the three small holes do not clog. Refit and tighten after cleaning.
4. Automatic cleaning
Some machines have an auto-clean mode. During ice making, press Clean on the electrical box to stop refrigeration and run wash, rinse, and drain—about 30 minutes. Mild detergent may help. The unit then returns to ice making.
5. Long idle periods
Switch off and unplug; shut water. Remove ice and drain the tank (open the rear drain cover if fitted). Disconnect and drain supply lines. Wipe moisture and leave the bin door open until fully dry.
