Commercial Induction Cooker Not Heating: What to Do

What if a commercial induction cooker stops heating? Heating is its job, but many no-heat cases are protections—not hard failures. CHINENG analyzes causes below.

External factors

1. Grid voltage: too high or low forces standby with a fault code.

2. Internal overheat: trip often around 90–95°C, clear around 60–70°C as a pause with code; about 110°C forces shutdown.

3. Surge: spikes are mostly absorbed by MOVs; smaller surges cause short pauses. Poor contacts on aging grids may pause randomly.

4. Pan overheat (dry-burn): trip about 280–300°C, clear about 70–80°C with forced shutdown.

Internal factors

1. Temperature sensor open/short: forces shutdown until repaired.

2. IGBT overvoltage: reduces output when collector voltage trips—“intermittent heat” or lower power.

3. IGBT overcurrent: cuts power or pauses, then restarts—regular intermittent heating.

Most no-heat cases from these causes are repairable at modest cost. Have the maker’s technician check repair value before buying a new unit.
