Kitchens concentrate fuels, cooking oil, and gas. How should you fight a kitchen fire? CHINENG shares practical methods.

Kitchen fire-fighting methods
1. Gas fires: If piping or LPG has not ignited other materials, cover the flame with a wet towel or fire blanket to protect your arms, shut the valve to cut gas, then clear remaining fire.
2. Oil-pan fires: Turn off the heat and cover with a lid or large wet cloth without gaps. Cool oil by adding cut vegetables along the pan edge if available.
Note: Never use water on an oil fire—it can explode the pan and scatter burning oil.
3. Electrical fires: cut the main breaker first. Sparking that stops after power-off may need no further action; burning insulation needs dry powder or a wet blanket. Never use water before isolating power.
4. Isolate, block, and move: wet barriers and continuous spray to separate fuels; block gas leak flames; in heavy smoke find cylinders, shut valves, extinguish flames, and remove cylinders to prevent explosion.
5. Enclosure: move LPG cylinders out, close doors/windows, spray through openings; if fire grows, call the fire department at once.
6. Aim extinguishers into the hood or duct so fan airflow carries agent onto the fire—fast and effective.
7. Keep dry powder handy; throw a handful at a leaking gas valve fire, then shut the main valve.
Note: Alert the fire center and call 119; use on-site extinguishers on early fires and keep prevention measures in place. Follow CHINENG commercial kitchen equipment.
