Ice machines are bought twice when you size for the daily average but run out every Friday night. This guide shows how to pick kg/day output, machine type, and cooling method from the CHINENG catalog — without treating every model number as a separate essay.
If you already know your daily ice volume, jump here:
~30–140 kg/day — back bar, small café, office pantry → integrated undercounter-style unit (CN-8015-YTZBJ series, from about $237 catalog)
~70–120 kg/day — bar counter with built-in bin → bar-table cube (BTZBJ-600F-FL–1200F-FL)
~200–600 kg/day — busy restaurant, hotel back bar, banquet prep → split cube (FTZBJ-Z300–Z1000)
~200–400 kg/day, crescent cubes for soft drinks → split crescent (YYZBJ-ZY300–ZY700, water-cooled on catalog)
Flake / snow ice for seafood display or rapid chilling → see air-cooled snowflake machine (different product class — not a cube substitute)
Catalog prices exclude shipping, on-site service, and tax. Confirm live quotes and voltage (220V on listed models) before ordering.

Restaurants that only serve table water use far less ice than cocktail bars, bubble tea shops, or hotels with banquet ice buckets. Use this workflow:
Estimate peak-hour drinks that need ice (not total covers)
Assume ~0.15–0.25 kg ice per iced drink (adjust up for blended drinks or large cups)
Multiply by peak drinks/hour → kg needed in the busiest hour
Compare to machine daily rating and storage bin kg on the product page
Add 20–30% buffer for weekends, staff scooping loss, and bin refills
Worked example — 45-seat café, bubble tea + iced coffee:
Peak: 55 iced drinks/hour × 0.2 kg ≈ 11 kg/hour draw at rush
Spread across an 11-hour service day with lighter off-peak periods → ≈ 55–70 kg/day total
Catalog pick: CN-8015-YTZBJ-48F (68 kg/day, 15 kg storage) or step up to YTZBJ-68F (90 kg/day, 18 kg storage) if weekends run longer
Rule: If peak-hour scooping empties the bin faster than a 15–20 minute ice cycle can refill it, either upsize the machine or add a second unit — do not count on the machine catching up during the same service period.

| Family | Typical daily output | Best fit | Watch-outs |
| Integrated (YTZBJ) | 30–140 kg/day | Small bar, café, staff kitchen — compact footprint (from ~354×428×637 mm on 30–50 kg models) | Storage 12–43 kg; bin smaller than daily rating on most sizes |
| Bar-table cube (BTZBJ-FL) | 70–120 kg/day | Front bar, speed rail, visible service — widths 600–1200 mm match counter modules | Needs front ventilation clearance; plan drain path early |
| Split cube (FTZBJ-FL / -SL) | 200–600 kg/day | Hotel, canteen, high-volume restaurant — large storage (120–150 kg on catalog) | Taller cabinet (~1.6–1.9 m); higher power (up to ~2 kW on Z1000) |
| Split crescent (YYZBJ-SL) | 200–400 kg/day | Soft-drink programs wanting crescent-style cubes; water-cooled on listed models | Water cooling needs reliable water line + drain; not interchangeable with cube bins |
All listed cube lines show 15–20 minute ice cycles and tap water inlet (barrel water customizable on smaller integrated units per product page).

| Method | CHINENG catalog examples | Choose when |
| Air-cooled (-FL) | Integrated YTZBJ; bar-table BTZBJ-FL; split FTZBJ-Z*FL | Ventilated install area, moderate ambient temps, simpler plumbing |
| Water-cooled (-SL) | Bar-table BTZBJ-J-SL; split FTZBJ-Z*J-SL; crescent YYZBJ-ZY*-SL | Hot kitchens, limited airflow, or projects already planning water-cooled refrigeration |
Practical note: Air-cooled machines need clearance for exhaust — stuffing them under a closed cabinet or against a wall blocks airflow and cuts output. Water-cooled units trade that for water consumption and drain routing; confirm local utility rules before specifying.
Standard cube (integrated / bar / split FL) — general beverage, hotel buckets, staff stations. This is the default for most buyers on the commercial ice maker page.
Crescent (YYZBJ-SL) — softer, curved cubes; common in fountain-drink style programs. Same daily kg math, different ice shape.
Snowflake / flake (CN-KSMQ-XHBJ) — seafood display, rapid product chilling, some dessert bars. Not a drop-in for drink ice volume — size separately.
Snow-melt / cold-drink prep (CN-MLK-SM) — cataloged under ice shaver; holds and chills drink bases per product page. Not a cube-ice substitute — pair with a cube maker if you also serve iced drinks.

Full parameter tables live on the product page. Use this ladder to shortlist before you request a formal quote:

Export projects: confirm whether your site needs 110V / 60 Hz or other regional versions — the English catalog lists 220V / 50 Hz; customization is common on factory-direct orders.
Floor space + height — split units exceed 1.6 m; measure doorways for delivery
Airflow — leave exhaust clearance on air-cooled models; do not box them in
Water inlet — tap water on catalog; filter quality affects scale and cycle time
Drain — melt-water line routed to floor drain or condensate pump
Electrical — dedicated circuit for 430W–2 kW classes; verify 220V availability
Ambient temperature — hot boiler rooms cut ice rate; locate away from wok lines when possible
Cleaning access — descale schedule in warranty notes; plan bin removal path

< 50 kg/day, tight space → integrated YTZBJ-20F / 30F / 40F
50–90 kg/day café or staff kitchen → YTZBJ-48F or 68F
Front bar, 70–120 kg/day → bar-table BTZBJ-600F-FL–1200F-FL (air) or BTZBJ-600J-SL–1200J-SL (water)
Hotel / canteen 200+ kg/day → split FTZBJ-Z300+ ; match Z700–Z1000 for 380–600 kg
Crescent ice program → YYZBJ-ZY300–ZY700 (water-cooled on catalog)
Seafood display / flake → snowflake machine line, not cube split unit
Snow-melt / cold-drink prep only → ice shaver / snow-melt line + optional cube maker for drink ice
No. A 68 kg/day machine may only hold 15 kg in the bin at once. Peak service must fit both hourly draw and bin capacity, or you will run empty between cycles.
Size for the repeatable weekly peak, not a once-a-year gala — or plan supplemental bagged ice / a second machine for banquet season. Split models with 120–150 kg storage (FTZBJ / YYZBJ) handle higher sustained draws better than compact integrated units.
If the machine sits in a ventilated back corridor, air-cooled (-FL) is usually simpler. If it must live next to cooking lines with poor airflow, water-cooled (-SL) on the catalog may hold output better — at the cost of water hookup and drain planning.
Ice makers produce consumable ice; reach-in freezers and freezing workbenches store product. Many kitchens need both — size each line separately. For door count, liters, and LC/LD/SW selection, see the Commercial Reach-in Freezer Buying Guide.
